The Carolina Foundation is the Spanish institution of reference for academic mobility and international scholarships. It was created on September 22, 2000, in order to foster cultural relations and cooperation in educational and scientific matters between Spain and the countries of the Latin American Community. As of the year 2001, 411,500 people have applied for one or more “Carolina Scholarships” being granted to more 14,400 applicants.

Through its Training Program, the Carolina Foundation, in its 17th call, presents 547 scholarships corresponding to the 2017-2018 academic year and acts as a key instrument of the Ibero-American Knowledge Area.

On this occasion the 547 scholarships are distributed in five modalities: 299 postgraduate scholarships, 70 doctoral and short-term doctoral stays, 27 mobility grants from Brazilian professors, 2 scholarships for entrepreneurship projects, 34 scholarships for institutional studies and 115 renovations ( 84 doctorate and 31 graduate second year).

What modalities are taught?
The support modalities are based on a distribution in six areas of knowledge in which the Carolina Foundation develops its activities:

B – Energy, Environment and Infrastructure
C – Health Sciences
D – Economy and Finance, Business Organization and Development
E – Social and Legal Sciences
F – Arts, Humanities and Communication

Who are the scholarships aimed at?
The scholarships are exclusively aimed at students in Latin America to complete their training in Spain. The visa must be taken to enter Spain and if the program to be carried out lasts for more than 90 days, the procedure must be renewed.

In addition, the Fellows of the Foundation have the possibility of requesting an educational loan. The countries that have this possibility are: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

When and how to apply?
The call for scholarships of the Carolina Foundation is annual and is generally open in the middle of December of each year.

The scholarship application is made online. For its realization there are certain steps to follow.

The first step is access to the platform.
If you are a user already registered in the system you must log in with your email address and password. If you have forgotten your password, select the option, you will have to enter the “Online application” section and, once there, you will find the “Remember Password” section, where you must indicate your email address in the corresponding field.
Once this action has been carried out and, in a very short period of time, you will receive an e-mail with your password and username in your email address that, at the time, was appropriately assigned by the Carolina Foundation .
If instead you are a new user, select the option to Register in the upper right corner.
Once registered you can take the second step to apply for the scholarship. You will access your private area of ​​applicant where you will find all the menu options with your registration data, the curriculum to complete, the application you wish to make and others.
You will see the scholarship offer in the central part of the screen. Click on the program you wish to complete and finally, select the request option. If you request more than one program, you can do so by clicking on the “New request” icon, and choosing the desired program.
